Jerome Rothenberg’s 15 Antiphonals for Horaldo is a series of translations or transcreations of lines from poems by Haroldo de Campos. They are the result of a process Rothenberg has termed ‘othering’. A series of fragments from English translations of de Campos’s work are responded to with ‘soundings’ of Rothenberg’s own.

Jerome Rothenberg is an American poet, translator, and anthologist. His work has explored primitive and archaic poetry, sound poetry, found poetry, visual poetry, and collaborations. He is probably best known for his work in ‘ethnopoetics’, a term he coined to express the synthesis of poetry, linguistics, anthropology, and ethnology.
